Fleet Street, Brighton is an award winning conversion of a mothballed concrete shell into 6 small business units in an excellent city centre location.

Found within a short walk of Brighton train station, this 600 square metre development met the much needed requirement for affordable ‘graduation’ space for small businesses in Brighton & Hove.

The units were all let or sold within a 12 month period proved demand. A local contractor was selected and was pushed to reduce waste and ensure practical energy efficient solutions.

Reclaimed, recycled, natural and sustainably sourced materials were specified throughout and in-use operation energy was minimised by design. A revised lighting scheme reduced the in-use electrical load by 52 % and the use of reused materials saved over 62,000 MJ or 17,000 kWh of embodied energy.

A post occupancy evaluation was conducted by local energy efficiency specialist Gardner & Scardifield Energy 12 months after occupation of the last unit.
