"The instant provision is terrific. It is very clever and of course it is demountable, which means it can be taken down and put somewhere else".

Bill Randall, Deputy Mayor and Chair of Brighton & Hove City Council Housing Committee.

Richardson's Yard opened its gates to residents on 9 December 2013. The scheme, which uses refurbished shipping containers as moveable building blocks, provides 36 self-contained accommodation units. Work commenced in late August 2013 and was complete ready for occupation 14 weeks later. The development was let on completion to Brighton Housing Trust.

Our application, which was lodged in December 2012, to site a temporary accommodation scheme on an unused parcel of the land awaiting long-term regeneration was unanimously approved at committee on 24 April 2013.

Ross, one of QED Directors ran blog updates during the construction of these modular buildings, which can be found here.
