Ross is managing director of QED and balances the management of a significant investment portfolio with expanding and delivering QED’s development pipeline. His focus is not only on long term regeneration projects, but also interim schemes that help to regenerate underutilised, brownfield areas.
Ross is widely known and respected within the real estate industry for his role in championing interim development as a means for kick-starting the regeneration process, proving viability of an area in a quickly deployable and economic format.
Chris is a qualified chartered surveyor with over 30 years’ experience in the development industry, and is widely regarded as among one of the highest profile and successful developers in the South East, with a reputation for delivery.
Chris’s most notable achievement has been the award winning £250 million regeneration of the former Brighton Station goods yard, a 13 acre site which has been developed into one of the most vibrant and economically significant areas of Brighton, boasting over 1 million sq ft of commercial space, as well as 400 residential units. The scheme is noted for its contribution to public art for which Chris is particularly proud.
Bob has had a long and illustrious project management career and is passionate about the opportunities modular construction presents to the development industry.
In 2014 Bob joined forces with Ross Gilbert to develop the concept of using shipping containers as modular building blocks. Following on from a successful prototype, Bob and Ross delivered the first moveable development of its kind in the heart of Brighton’s city centre, using 36 re-purposed shipping containers.
Tiantian is a QED director and investor. Her focus is in helping to develop and sustain the innovative business ideas of QED, ensuring they are as effective, sustainable and socially responsible as possible. Having completed an MPhil at the University of Cambridge, Tiantian is currently studying for her PhD in Sociology at the University of Cambridge. Tiantian focuses her academic skills to support QED's research tasks, including evidence-based research on social housing and urban regeneration, social policy analysis and market data analysis.
Mark has a passion for design and is the principal architect behind QED’s product development and creative power-house of QED’s ambitious and forward thinking site designs and layout.
Mark’s experience includes interior design, high end model making, working on film sets, as well as managing a 100-strong team as part of the ‘green and pleasant land’ installation at London 2012. Mark came to work at QED in order to focus on built environment based design, where his passion lies.
James recently joined QED and has the dual role of managing the firm's existing investment portfolio, while identifying and working on new development opportunities. James is also completing his professional studies to become a qualified Chartered Surveyor.
Prior to joining QED, James gained general practice surveying experience working for chartered surveyors Flude Commercial, on the disposal and acquisition of business space across the South Coast.
Angela's role within QED is managing all the financial aspects of the business – from the statutory and day-to- day requirements – to supporting the development and investment teams with budgeting and projections. Having qualified and worked as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Angela returned to her native Cornwall to work as a senior manager for a small chartered accountancy firm, before working as the finance manager for a large care home provider. Having recently moved to Sussex, Angela is our most recent member of the team.
Angie forms part of the 'original team' that in latter years has become QED. Formerly working for Wyncote, alongside Chris Gilbert, Bob Whittaker and Michelle Stallard, Angie has experience in depth on what is required to ensure the smooth running of the property management part of the business. She is responsible for managing enquiries, new leads and the administration of QED’s property portfolio.
Michelle is QED’s office manager and joined QED in 2014. She has worked with the team before and was head hunted when the business began to grow. Having spent 30 years in the property sector – variously as a commercial real estate negotiator, office administrator for an architecture practice and then for a property developer, Michelle’s skills in accounting, logistics, progress chasing and administrative support means she is a vital member of the team.
With a BA in European Ethnology and German and experience in sales, logistics, broadcasting and marketing, Gesa is a key part of QED's marketing and communications function. She is passionate about social justice and creating sustainable communities, as well as a keen proponent of Permaculture and circular economies. Her role is in researching and publishing articles that support QED’s business strategies and vision.
