Richardsons Yard opened its gates to residents on 9th December 2013. It took just 14 weeks to complete the development of 36 studio flats. The development was let on completion to Brighton Housing Trust.

Our application, which was lodged in December 2012, to site a temporary accommodation scheme on an unused parcel of the land awaiting long-term regeneration was unanimously approved at committee on 24th April 2013.

The scheme, which uses refurbished shipping containers as modular units, provides 36 self-contained shipping container homes. As part of their programme for change, Brighton Housing Trust use the homes as move on accommodation.

The instant provision is terrific. It is very clever and of course it is demountable, which means it can be taken down and put somewhere else.
